Windows 10 File Explorer comes with a handy built-in autocomplete that displays automatic suggestions that match the text you type. This is effective for the Run dialog box, the File Explorer window, and in the address bar. This way you can save time and speed up your working time.

Autocomplete is set to Enabled by default in Windows 10. When you go to the Run box or File Explorer and type a few letters of the text, it will automatically suggest some matches in a drop-down menu. Matches are taken from the command and browsing history. However, if you want to disable it, you can easily disable it with a simple setting in the Control Panel or Registry Editor. Let's see how.

Method 1: how to disable auto-complete via control panel

Step 1: Click on Home button and type Control Panel in the search box. Click on the result to open the file Control Panel window.

Step 2: A Control Panel window, scroll down and click Internet options to open the file Internet property the dialog box.

Step 3: Now, click on the file Satisfy Tab, press the key settings button below Automatic completion option.

4 phase: In the next dialog box that appears, below Autocomplete for, uncheck the options you want to disable and that's it.

Method 2: how to disable autocomplete via registry editor

Step 1: press the Tasto Windows + R to open the file run box type Regedit in the search box and press Log in to open the file Registry Editor window.

Step 2: A Registry Editor window, go to the following registry key:


In the Explorer folder on the left side of the panel, click Autocomplete.

Note: - If you can't find the Autocomplete folder in explorer, just select explorer , right click and choose key. Give this key a name Automatic completion.

Step 3: Right click on the blank panel on the right side, select New > click String value and names the value as AutoSuggest.

4 phase: Name the new one String value like AutoSuggestand insert the file Valuable data like No. Click ok per salvare I modified it.

To re-enable it, enter the value data as Yes.

Method 3: adjust the Internet options

1. Press Tasto Windows + R key together to open the run box.

2. Write inetcpl.cpl on it and click ok.

3. Click Advanced language.

4. Now deselect Use online autocomplete in File Explorer and in the Run dialog box.

5. Click OK and close the window.
