When any of the keys on the keyboard stop working, it can be difficult to work with the system. The keyboard is the primary input device and therefore requires your immediate attention if any of the keys fail. In many cases, the SHIFT key on Windows 10 system may suddenly stop working, making it difficult to perform many actions.

Method 1: use the control panel

Step 1: Click on Home desktop menu, type Control Panel in the search box and click the result.

Method 2: use Device Manager

Step 1: Right click on What PC on the desktop and click Manage in the context menu.

Step 2: A IT management window, click Device administrator far left option.

Step 3: Click on Keyboard right option to expand it. Right click on HID keypad device and click Update Driver to check if an updated driver is needed.


Step 4: In the next window, click Automatically searches for updated driver software to check for the latest drivers available for update.


Step 5: It will start looking for drivers online. If a new driver is available, it will update it automatically. When finished, close the window and restart your system. the MODIFY The key should start working now.

If there are no drivers available, the message will be displayed: the best drivers for your device are already installed. If so, you should try to control the keyboard with another computer. If that doesn't work, you may need to replace your keyboard with a new one.

Method 3: disable the filter keys

1. Press Tasto Windows + I Open settings.

2. Now click Ease of access.

3. Click keyboard from the left menu

4. On the right side deactivate Key filtering. Make sure it's turned off.

Method 4: Make sure the language is correct in the settings

1. Press Tasto Windows + I Open settings.

2. Click Time and language

3. Click language in the menu on the left.

4. Make sure the language is correct. If it is not correct, click on the language from the options shown below and click the up arrow key to position it at the top.

If your correct language is not listed, click add a preferred language to add the desired language.
