While Windows 10 is one of the most used Windows operating systems in recent times, all over the world due to its advanced features, it can also throw some unexpected errors at random moments. Once such an annoying mistake is "Could not reproduce the test tone " which is displayed when the system audio stops working or when you try to test the sound in the Audio Properties dialog box.

This can be inconvenient if you want to change the default format for system audio and want to test the quality before finalizing it. However, there are faster ways to correct "The test tone could not be reproduced“Error in Windows 10.

Let's see how.

Method 1: Restart the Windows Audio Service

Step 1: press the Win + R keyboard keys to open the file Run command.

Step 2: Gender services.msc a Run command search box and press ok to open the file Supervisor.

Step 3: A Services (Service Manager), go to the right side. Now scroll down and find Windows Audio from Your name list.

Step 4: Right click on Windows Audio and select Restart give the menu answer.

Now, try checking the audio or running the sound test and it should be back to normal. If not, try the second method.

Method 2: via audio settings

Step 1: Navigate to Speaker (audio) located at the bottom right of the file Application bar.

Right-click on it and select Open the audio settings in the context menu.

Step 2: A Audio settings window, go right, scroll down to Related settings and click Sound control panel (blue link) below it.

Step 3: A Sound dialog box that opens below the file Playback tab, select the device you are testing audio with and click Property towards the bottom of the page.

Step 4: So in Property dialog box, select the file Advanced language. Now go to Default format section and try to change audio formats e Test every time to check if it works.

If that doesn't work, click Reset to default values towards the bottom of the dialog box (if available / if not disabled).

print To apply and so ok to save the changes. You will come back to Sound window. Press To apply and so ok again to save and exit.

That's all. Your audio problem should now be fixed and you can test the sound freely.
