How to deactivate YouTube Premium

After activating the YouTube Premium free trial and using the paid service for some time, you have decided that you do not want to continue with the subscription to the platform and therefore you want to deactivate it. If you don't know how to do it, don't worry: we are here! In fact, in the next few lines we will show you the procedure necessary to reach your goal and thus cancel the automatic renewal of your subscription.

We will go in particular to see how to disable YouTube Premium from PC, smartphone / tablet and iPhone / iPad. Take a few minutes of your free time: with a little attention and concentration you will succeed in your intent. But let's not dwell further: happy reading!

Procedure to PC

First, connect to the YouTube home and click "Login" to enter your account (if you have not done so previously), then click on "Choose an account" and select the Google profile with which you have activated YouTube Premium. Enter the password and click on "Next". At this point click on your photo at the top right (or on the little man icon if you have never customized the account): a menu will open from which you will have to choose the item "Paid subscriptions". Here locate the item "YouTube Premium" and click on "Unsubscribe", indicating the reasons that led you to this decision.

At this point click on the "Next" button and click on "Yes, cancel": by doing so you will confirm your registration. You should now see "Subscription canceled". To close the tab click on "Close". First you need to download and install the YouTube app, if you have not already done so. Start the latter by pressing the icon on the home screen of your device and then tap on your photo at the top right (or on the little man icon if you never customize your account). Make sure you are logged in with the Google account with which you subscribed (otherwise click "Change account" to change account).

As we said, tap on your photo or on the little man and then choose the "Paid subscriptions" option. A new screen will open where you will have to tap on "Manage" next to "YouTube Premium" and then press "Unsubscribe". After indicating the reasons for your choice, press on "Next" and then on "Yes, cancel" to definitively confirm your decision. You did it - you turned off YouTube Premium auto-renewal!

Procedure to iPhone/iPad

If, on the other hand, you are using an iPhone, start the YouTube app and log in with your Google account by pressing the little man icon at the top right and choosing the “Sign in” option. Enter the data in the various sections, and after logging in, tap on your photo at the top right (or on the little man icon) and then choose "Paid subscriptions". Now locate the YouTube Premium section and click on "Manage". To continue you have to switch to the desktop version: tap the "Open" button next to the browser you usually use to connect to the desktop version of the YouTube site.

Now you have to select your Google account, enter the password in the "Enter the password" field and then tap on "Next". A page with different sections will open: you press on "Active subscriptions", then on "Manage subscription" and then choose the "Unsubscribe". At this point, tap the "Yes, cancel" button. You did it: you deactivated your subscription!

In case you have activated the subscription via the iTunes Store, the procedure is obviously different. Take your iPhone or iPad and tap on the Settings icon (gear wheel) and press on your name. Now choose the "iTunes and App Store" option and then tap on your Apple ID, then select the item "View Apple ID" and authenticate via Face ID, Touch ID or password. You will see a screen where you will have to tap on the item "Subscriptions" and then locate the one related to YouTube Premium in the "Active" section. Tap on “YouTube Premium” and then click on “Cancel subscription”, or “Cancel trial period” if you haven't finished it yet. Done! You have deactivated your subscription.
