Thankfully, you don't have to manually scroll through your entire Google Photos library to find blurry photos and screenshots. There is a tool in Google Photos that does all the hard work for you. It will also display the amount of storage space you can free up by deleting all the blurry photos and screenshots that you no longer need.
You can delete blurry photos and old screenshots from Google Photos from your phone or PC.
Google Photos already offers an option to archive screenshots and old photos, but that's different than deleting them. Archiving will only remove them from your photo library, but blurry photos and screenshots will still take up space in your Google account.
How to delete blurry photos in Google Photos from phone
- Open the Google Photos app on your iPhone or Android device. Tap your profile photo located in the top right corner followed by Account archiving .
- You will now get an overview of the storage left in your Google account, an estimate of the duration based on usage and a section Revision and deletion .
- In this section, you will see the option Blurred photo along with the storage space they occupy.
- Click on Gallery blurry and Google Photos will display any images in your library that it thinks are blurry.
- Proceed with selecting the blurry photos you want to get rid of.
- Once you have selected all the photos you want to delete, tap the trash can icon located in the top right corner. Confirm your selection by tapping again Move to the trash from the dialog that opens.
How to delete old screenshots in Google Photos from your phone
- Open the Google Photos app on your iPhone or Android. Tap your profile photo located in the top right corner followed by Account archiving .
- From below the section Review and delete , touch Screenshots .
- Select the screenshots you want to delete. If you want to delete all screenshots, simply tap Select located in the upper right corner followed by Select all .
- Once you have selected all the photos you want to delete, tap the trash can icon located in the top right corner. Confirm your selection by tapping again Move to the trash from the dialog that opens.
Google Photos will also offer you an option to download all blurry photos and screenshots if you want to download them for offline backup before deleting them from your photo library.
How to delete blurry photos and old screenshots in Google Photos from your PC
- Go to on your PC. Click the Settings icon located in the upper right corner next to your profile photo.
- From the Settings page that opens, click on Manage storage space .
- It will now show an overview of how you have used your Google account storage space and how long it will last. You will also see a section Review and delete where you can see the space occupied by blurry photos and screenshots in your Google account.
- Click on Blurred photo o Screenshots a depending on your preferences. Proceed to select the blurry photos and screenshots you want to delete.
- If you want to get rid of all blurry photos or screenshots, simply select an item. The option Select all it will then be displayed in the upper right corner. Click on it to select all blurry photos or screenshots.
- In the top right corner, click the option Move to the trash . Confirm your selection by clicking again Move to the trash in the pop-up window.
