Sometimes you may want to find out exactly which version of the Windows operating system you are using on your PC. This may be necessary if you are installing new software and want to make sure it is compatible with your version of the Windows operating system. Here's how to check the version of the Windows operating system.

Method 1: Find out the Windows version / build using the Run command

1 - Keep Windows logo key and press R key on the keyboard.



2 - Once the Run command box window opens, type winver on it and hit Enterokay.
