DirectPlay was once a popular Windows API library that enabled multiplayer in PC games. Gradually, Windows gave way to Games for Windows Live, making DirectPlay a thing of the past for Windows games. This means that DirectPlay is not useful for any of the newer applications or games.
But it's not gone forever yet. If you're interested in playing any of the older games made before 2008 on your Windows 10 PC, you'd still need DirectPlay. Although some systems may still have DirectPlay enabled, most systems cannot. So how do you add DirectPlay on Windows 10 PC? Let's see how.
How to install DirectPlay on a Windows 10 PC
Step 1: Click on Home at your desk, type Enable or disable Windows features and click the result.
Step 2: Go to Windows features dialog box and scroll down to find Legacy components. Now, click (+) sign next to it to expand it and check the box next to DirectPlay . Press ok to save changes and exit.
Step 3: Wait for it to complete the installation procedure. Now choose between Restart Now or Restart Later as per your convenience.
When you restart your PC, DirectPlay is activated.
