On our PCs / laptops, the hard drive can be partitioned so that users can save their different kinds of files and folders on different drives. These units are local units. They are generally called Local Disk (C :), Local Disk (D :), Local Disk (E 🙂, and so on.

There are basically two types of files stored on these local drives. They are system files and user files. System files are those files that represent the operating system. They are created by the operating system. Any modification of these files can cause system damage. On the other hand, user files are those files created by the user. They can be easily modified. All third-party software (i.e. application software) uses system files to generate user files.
