Some files and folders are hidden by default. Here's how to view them in Windows 11.

Windows has a feature that hides many system-critical files and folders of your system. Some of these are hidden by default, but you can also hide them manually. In some ways this feature is indispensable, as it prevents you from accidentally deleting important files.

There are, however, situations where you may need to see these hidden files and folders. In this article, we've covered the exact ways you can do this. Let's begin.

How to view hidden files and folders via File Explorer

You can easily view hidden files and folders with the help of File Explorer. This is the easiest way to view hidden files and folders on Windows 11; all you have to do is open a folder and File Explorer is open, ready to use.

To get started, go to the folder where you suspect your hidden files are. Once there, follow the steps below:

  • click on Immagine in the upper right corner.
  • From there, select Show> Hidden Items .

As soon as you do this, your hidden files will become visible. To hide your files again, simply deselect the section Hidden elements from above and your settings will return to normal.

Viewing hidden files and folders via the control panel

The Control Panel is a Windows tool that allows you to manage and control different programs on your PC. Interestingly, you can also use it to show hidden files in Windows 11. Here's how:

  • Go to the search bar of the Start menu , type "control panel" and press Submit .
  • In the Control Panel, select Appearance and personalization > File Explorer Options .
  • Click on the tab View.
  • Select the setting "Hidden files and folders" and click on the option Show hidden files, folders and drives.
  • click on OK .

Do this and your settings will be changed, making previously hidden files and folders visible.
