In computing terms, an "event" is a description of any process that runs on a computer. In simple terms, when any activity fails or runs, it generates an Event Logs. You can view and manage all system activities with the help of event logs. Therefore, these logs can help you solve various problems with your computer.

In this article, we will follow some steps on how troubleshoot using Event Viewer in Windows 10:


Step 1:

Right click on the “Start” icon located in the lower left corner of the screen. Click on “Event Viewer”.

Step 2:

In the “Event Viewer” window, double-click on “Windows Logs” located in the submenus on the left.

Step 3:

Click on "System".

In the middle section of the window, you will see a series of system events that occur / have occurred on your system. These events are classified into the Information, Warning and Error categories.

Step 4:

If you experience system interruptions while running any file, simply copy the event information and event ID and paste it into Google to find the relevant solution to the problem.

Step 5:

Event Viewer is also responsible for managing the log properties. To change the registry properties, right click on any of the "Windows Logs" and click "Properties".



For example, right click on "System" and click "Properties"


Step 6:

To minimize the size of the log, select "Overwrite events as needed (oldest events first)" and click "OK"

To clean up the log space, click “Clear Log”.

Step 7:

To delete the event log files, it is safer to save the log summary and then delete it. Then, click “Save and Delete” to save the summary of the log file in the directory and then perform the deletion of the log file.
