Method 1: from command prompt
Step 1 - Find the path to the folder C: Windows SoftwareDistribution Download. Delete everything in the folder and leave it blank.
Step 2 - Now find CMD and run it as administrator.
Now, type the command given below and hit enter.
wuauclt.exe / Updatenow
Your update will now start without errors.
Method 2: update Windows 10 with the media creation tool
Step 1 - Download Windows 10 from the Microsoft Windows 10 download page
download Windows 10 for upgrade
Note: There are different downloads available for the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the PC. I went to my computer -> Properties to see its version.
Step 2 - Now, right click and run it as administrator. Choose to update this PC now
Method 3: changing the registry key
Step 1 - Press Windows key + r and type regedit on it and press ok.
Step 2 - Now go to the next location shown below in the left menu.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> windows -> Current version -> Windows update -> OSUpgrade
Check AllowOSUpgrade exists or not. If it does not exist, right click on the right side and create a new DWORD (32 bit) value with Name = “AllowOSUpgrade” (without quotes) and set the value = 1.
Now restart your system and the Windows 10 update will start smoothly.
