Skype is undoubtedly the best video calling app for Windows 10, but sometimes it doesn't connect and gives us unknown errors. Many Windows 10 users are facing similar problem with Skype and cannot make video calls from Skype.

There are several reasons why Skype won't connect, we've covered all situations and found these methods to help you reconnect your Skype so you can enjoy seamless video calling.


Method 1: update Skype to the latest version

Earlier versions of Skype are more prone to network problems. If you are using an older version of Skype, updating Skype to the latest version will most likely fix your connection problem.


You can download the latest version of Skype from the official website or from the Windows Store. If you have the classic version of Skype, go to the help section and select check for updates. It will automatically detect and download if a newer version is available.

Method 2: reset network settings

If the connection is unstable or the network ping is faster than usual, Skype performance may be affected. Resetting the network settings will help you get a stable network. Follow these steps to reset your network settings.

STEP 1 - Press windows key and search Symbol of the system, Right-click on the first result and select Run as administrator.

STEP 2 - Press Yup when administrator access is required.

STEP 3: In the command prompt window, type the following commands one by one, press Log in After typing a command.

Method 3: check for Windows update

If you still can't connect to Skype, there may be a problem with your version of Windows. Updating to the latest version of the Windows patch can fix this problem.

STEP 1 - Open Settings by pressing windows e me at the same time.

STEP 2 - Click Update and security.


STEP 3 - Click Look for updates button.

Download and install the updates, then check if Skype is working or not.

Method 4: reset skype from registry

In this method, we will completely remove skype and install it again. We need to remove the configuration and login information from the Windows registry so that when we reinstall Skype we won't encounter the same problem.

STEP 1 - Open the Run box by pressing windows e R at the same time, type control and press Enter. The control panel window will open.


STEP 2: Click Programs and Features in the main menu.

STEP 3 - Locate Skype from the Programs list, right-click and select Uninstall.

STEP 4 - Again, open the Run box by pressing Windows + R, type regedit and hit Enter.

STEP 5 - Press Yup in the message.

STEP 6 - Expand HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT Left panel option, it will show different folders in alphabetical order. Scroll down to "S" and find your Skype folders. Right click on it and delete them one by one.

STEP 7: Reinstall Skype and sign in.
