Like our smartphones, we always keep an eye on the percentage of remaining charge in our laptop battery. So we can connect it to the power supply if the battery percentage is too low. Many Windows 10 users cannot see the remaining battery percentage of their laptop which is a very annoying problem.

Several Windows 10 users have reported that they cannot find the battery icon on the taskbar. In most cases, this problem occurred after upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 8 / 8.1 or Windows 7.

1. Power icon

In the first method, you will need to make sure that the Show Power Icon option is checked. Here's how to do it.

Step 2. Scroll down to locate Notification area. Below, click Turn system icons on or off.

1 - Right-click the Start menu button.

2 - Select Device Manager.

3 - Extend the battery.

4 - Right click on Microsoft AC Adapter.

5 - Select Uninstall device.

6 - Click Scan for hardware changes.

7 - Right-click the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery.

8 - Select Uninstall device.

9 - Click Scan for hardware changes.

10 - Restart your computer.

This method should solve the problem. If not, follow the next method.

2. Uninstall the Microsoft AC adapter and Microsoft ACPI-compliant control method battery.

As most of the problems in Windows 10 are caused by faulty or corrupt drivers, this could also be the reason behind this problem. In this method, we will uninstall the battery drivers for the Microsoft ACPI compliant control method and the Microsoft AC adapter. Then your controllers can go back to default values. Here's how to do it.

Step 1. Right-click the Start menu button and select Device administrator.

Step 2. Expand Battery and right click on Microsoft AC adapter. Please select Uninstall device. Click on Uninstall to the confirmation request.


Step 3. Click on Check for hardware changes and wait for Windows to reinstall the Microsoft AC adapter drivers.


4 Phase. Now, right-click on Battery with Microsoft ACPI compatible control method and select Uninstall device. Click on Uninstall to the confirmation request.

Step 5. Again, click Check for hardware changes and wait for Windows to install the Microsoft ACPI-compliant control method battery drivers.

Step 6. Restart your computer.

This should fix the problem. Check the taskbar and make sure you see the battery icon. If the battery icon is still missing, perform the following method.

3. Run the System File Checker command

If none of the above methods worked, then you need to run the System File Checker. It is a troubleshooter designed to find and fix system related problems. It might even solve your problem. Here's how to do it.

Step 1. Go to Cortana and type Symbol of the system. Right click on Symbol of the system give the results and select Run as administrator.


Step 2. In the command prompt window, enter the following command and press Log in.

SFC / scannow

 

Step 3. Wait for the scan to finish. This may take up to 15 minutes.

4 Phase. After the scanning process is complete, restart your computer.

4. Run Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM)

DISM or DISM is another troubleshooting tool, quite similar to SFC scanning. The difference is that DISM is a more powerful tool than SFC. We will run DISM which will scan and fix the problem. Here's how to do it.

Step 1. Go to Cortana and type Symbol of the system. Right click on Symbol of the system give the results and select Run as administrator.

Step 2. Type the following commands, one by one, in the command prompt window and press Log in after entering each command.

DISM /online /Cleanup-Image / ScanHealth DISM / Online / Cleanup Image / RestoreHealth

 

Step 3. The scan and repair process will take a long time. Let it end.

4 Phase. When the process is complete, restart your computer.

This method should have solved your problem. If it didn't work for you, try the following method.

5. Run the Windows troubleshooter

Here, we will try to fix the problem by fixing Windows issues. In this method, Windows will try to fix the problem automatically by itself. Follow the steps to perform this method.

Step 1. Go to Cortana and type Solve problems. Please select Solve problems From the results.

Step 2. Click on Hardware and devices.

Step 3. Windows will look for problems. When finished, click Apply this fix o To apply Automatically repairs, whatever appears.

4 Phase. Restart your computer.

This should fix the problem. If the problem persists, perform the following method.

6. Install important updates

If none of the aforementioned methods worked for you, perhaps there is a major Windows update pending and installation could fix the problem. Microsoft regularly releases Windows updates with fixes for many bugs and errors, and the solution to your problem may be there. Go to Settings and check for updates. If there are any pending, download and install them. This will fix the problem.
