Many Windows 10 users are experiencing high disk usage and CPU usage problem. When I investigated the problem, I found that the high RAM usage or high CPU consumption by the Windows 10 operating system could be due to some additional processes and functions being activated mainly and sometimes due to outdated drivers on the system. Here I list the most responsible things you can solve to fix the problem. Find out what works for you and feel free to comment on your experience.

Choose these solutions to reduce RAM and CPU usage on your computer.

1) Change a particular registry value

NOTE: -

Before proceeding to the main solution, we highly recommend that you create a registry backup on your computer. After opening the Registry Editor, click on "archive">"Export“To create the backup.

If something goes wrong, you can recover the log by simply importing the backup.

1. Press Tasto Windows + R together for the launch run window on your computer.

2. Digita “regedit"In run window and then click"ok".

Registry Editor window will open.

3 inch Registry Editor window, on the left side, go to this location-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Session Manager Memory Management

4. Now, on the right side, double click in "ClearPageFileAtShutDown“To change it.

5. In the Edit DWORD (32-bit) value window, set the 'Value data:' to "1"And then click"ok“To save the value change.



Once done, close the Registry Editor window.

Restart computer for the changes to take effect.

After rebooting, check the RAM and CPU usage on your computer. It should decrease significantly.

2) Disable SysMain to fix Windows 10 high CPU usage

Step 1 - Search Services in the search box on the Windows taskbar 10. Click Services.

Step 2 - Scroll down and find "SysMain“On the right side of the Services window.

Phase 3- Double click in "SysMain“To access his properties.

Phase 4 In Widow SysMain Properties, click "Start type:'and choose "Disabled“From the drop-down list.

Step 5- Finally, click on "To apply"And then in"ok“To save the changes on your computer.

Now, start again Windows 10 for the changes to take effect.

3) Disable background running apps to fix high RAM usage

If you want to ask me which one. I would say everything. Why should an application run in the background when we are not using it? Even if they want to update, they can do it once it's open. So, better turn them all off.

To go Settings -> Privacy -> Background apps and turn them all off.

4) Disable Runtime Broker to resolve high CPU usage

Step 1 - Press Windows key + i to open the system control panel.


Click on system.

Step 2 - Now click Notifications and actions in the menu on the left.


There is an option on the right hand side that says show me tips on windows. Switch it off.

5) Adjust system settings for best performance

Step 1: - Search for view advanced system settings in the start menu search box.


Step 2: - Now, click on Settings as shown in the image.

Step 3: - Now choose to tune for best performance. Finally choose Apply and then click OK. Finally restart your PC.

Updating all drivers can also fix the memory issue, if outdated driver is the reason.

Note - Windows 10 has certain memory requirements. You need to make sure your device has this amount of system configuration.

8) Disable Automatically choose an accent color from my background

Step 1 - Press key Windows + i to access the system control panel.

Step 2 - Click on the personalization as shown below.

3 pass - Now choose colors in the menu on the left.

On the right side, turn off Automatically select an accent color from my background.
