While installing Windows 10 is often considered a straightforward procedure, it comes with its share of errors and exceptions that make it difficult. Error code: 0xE0000100 with the error message "Windows setup encountered an unexpected errorIt is one of those errors that can often occur when installing Windows 10 or due to a Windows Update error.

There may also be a problem with the disk partition, damaged installation media, if the system has insufficient or damaged RAM, and more. Fortunately, this can be fixed and you can complete the installation or update without any problems. Let's see how.



Method 1: using the Diskpart tool

You should try to wipe partitions with Windows 10's built-in diskpart tool. Let's see how.

Step 1: To go Home and write diskpart tool in the search box.

Step 2: Left click on the result and a file Symbol of the system window.

Step 3: A Symbol of the system that opens, type the following commands one by one and press Log in after each command:

diskpart list disk select disk 0 clean

Now restart your PC and try to finish the installation. It should complete the installation without any problems, but if not, try the second method.

Method 2: running the Chkdsk utility

Step 1: print Win + X keys together on the keyboard to open the file Run command.

Step 2: Now Write cmd in the search box, then press Ctrl + Shift + Enter keys together on the keyboard to open Symbol of the system in elevated mode (administrator).



Step 3: As the Symbol of the system (Administration) the window opens, type the following command and press Log in:

chkdsk c: / f

Let the process complete and then restart your PC. The error should disappear now, but if it persists then follow the third method.

Method 3: check the RAM

Shut down the system completely and replace the RAM with a new one to check if the error is gone and the installation or update was done. You can swap the RAM slots and then restart your PC. This should be done when the RAM hardware or connector has been damaged.

Also, you can use free software like Memtest86 + to run a memory diagnostic test on RAM.

This should fix the problem and you can complete the Windows 10 installation, but if the problem persists then follow the fourth method.

Method 4: Adjust the LoadAppInit_DLLs registry key

Step 1: print Win + X keys together on the keyboard to open the file Run command.

Step 2: A Run command search box, type regedit and press ok to open the file Registry Editor window.


Step 3: A Registry Editor window, go to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsNTCurrentVersionWindows

Now on the right side of the panel, find LoadAppInit_DLLs key.

4 phase: Double click on LoadAppInit_DLLs to open the file Edit DWORD (32-bit) value the dialog box. Now go to Valuable data field and set the value to 0.


print ok to save changes and exit.

Exit the Registry Editor window and restart your PC to see if the error is gone.

But if you still get the error then follow the fifth method.

Method 5: Run the Hardware Troubleshooter

The previous version of Windows 10 was accompanied by a built-in hardware troubleshooter. However, starting with Windows 10 version 1809, the Hardware and Device Troubleshooter has been removed. But the good thing is that you can still run the troubleshooter using the command prompt, let's see how.

Step 1: To go Home and write Symbol of the system in the search box.

Step 2: Left click on the result to open the file Symbol of the system window.

Step 3: Copy and paste the following command into the file Symbol of the system and press Log in:

msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic

4 phase: It will open the file Hardware and devices window. Click on The next and wait until it detects the error and fixes it automatically.

Now restart your PC and the error should go away. You can now proceed with installing or updating Windows 10 as usual.
